I have an iRiver ifp-790 that supports playback of Ogg Vorbis files. However, I'm wondering if I'm truly getting all the enhancements of an AoTuVB5-encoded file on playback, since my player is presumably using older versions of Ogg Vorbis libraries. Am I way off the mark here, or is there something to this concern?

No need to worry. Any decoder following the specification will decode the files just fine. The important part is the file format, which hasn't changed.
