Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to record the multichannel output of a 7.1 sound card (HT omega striker) in separates wave files ?

I would like to know if it is possible to record the digital output of DTS interactive (DTS NEO:PC matrix) using only software (no mixer table or multitrack PCI boards) ?

thank you, I hope my question is clear.

You may be able to record the soundcard’s output using Virtual Audio Cables to go from the card’s outputs into a multi-track program, but I don’t know if there is really any connection point in the soundcard to access the separate outputs as digital data. You could, of course, go D to A with the 7.1 card and feed the analogue inputs of a multi-track card. http://spider.nrcde.ru/music/software/eng/vac.html

You probably should be asking if there is a program that can just disassemble the 7.1 source file into its separate channels without playing it, which is perhaps your second question? I haven’t paid any attention to that idea.

To the first question, you can use ASIO plus a multitrack recording software, like Vegas or Soundforge 9 (pay software but you can use them in full for a trial period).

As the second question, the only mode besides using the method in the first answer, is to use DTS:Neo 6 decoding from Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 Audio Effect filter in graphedit.
Like this:

First, render the media file (but DON'T PLAY IT), then load the Cyberlink Audio Effect, then WavDest and File writer.
DON'T PLAY the rendered media file before connecting to File writer, or the file will probably will be played in 2ch mode, which will make File writer to write a 8ch audio file but with the header of a 2ch file, making the file useless. Also, DON'T PLAY IT (not even for testing) before setting the Audio Effect filter to 8ch or, again, the File writer will write a 2ch file.

This is the file loaded in Vegas after doing it the graphedit way:
