Full Version: Scanning FLAC library for ID3 tags?

I've spend countless hours searching the web for song titles to make sure every single file was tagged properly: no typos, right punctuation, etc..

I recently decided to convert my FLAC library to V0 and noticed some albums didn't have the right tags, wich I worked my ass off on.

I like having my library in order, and knowing there could be badly tagged files bugs me.

I use Tag&Rename and even tho the ID3 tags are present in a FLAC file, it won't let me delete them nor tell me ID3 tags are present.

But that's not a problem, I could just convert the badly tagged FLAC files to WAV to lose the tags and then back to FLAC.

My question is, is there a way to scan my FLAC library for ID3 tags? Is there such a tool?

FLAC uses Vorbis Comments, not ID3 tags.

I don't know about Tag&Rename, but MP3tag supports Vorbis Comments very well.

There's some potential for confusion, because FLAC used to use ID3 tags.

BelleAndZEK, did you use a program that uses ID3 instead of Vorbis comments? If yes, I don't think you're in much luck...

I used foobar2k's converter + lame to convert from FLAC to V0. I can see in my library in foobar that it used the ID3 from FLAC rather than Vorbis comments because my tags (vorbis comments) were all in lowercase and the ones appearing in my library had letters in uppercase.

I thought since foobar's converter could see and use the ID3 tags from the FLAC files, than there must be other programs that could do it too. I'm probably not the only one not liking having ID3 tags in my FLAC files so I thought a tool to scan FLAC files for ID3 tags must exists.

Convert Flac to Flac to sort out any tagging issues.
BelleAndZEK
That's not an option as I have hundreds of albums in FLAC. It'd be faster to check every song title one by one and see if they are the way I tagged them, but would still take way too much time.

Something in the likes of AudioTester would be just perfect, if only it had that option.

Mp3tag and Frontah can show if a flac file also has id3v2 and remove them.

foobar2000 doesn't support ID3 in FLAC, AFAIK.
