hello,

I just checked my mp3 files with 'mp3Test' and it showed some files that have a CRC Error. So I did the same test on the same file with 'Mp3Trim' and it also said that there is CRC error.
What does a CRC error mean, is it serious and how do they get caused? Is there any way to fix this? Does it have something to do with the ID3 Tags? 'Mp3Trim' couldn't fix it sad.gif.

Sorry, my bad! I think CRC = YES means only that there is a CRC information and not that there is a crc error...sorry about that. And 'mp3Trim' is able to fix CRC errors (if there are some, but I've no idea how to determine those), you only need a 1.8x PRO version...

But I still have a question: is it even possible to have a CRC error in an mp3 file? How do I check my mp3 files for that?

[Edit] For what do I even need a CRC check in an mp3 file? Doesn't it effect the quality of the mp3 file since that information needs space as well?

The purpose of CRC protection in MP3 is for streaming. If the CRC fails for a certain portion of the song transferring, the receiving PC requests the data again.

Yes, it's pretty useless. Absolutely useless if the MP3 is never going to be streamed.

And yes, having CRC in MP3 adversely affects the quality. But, there's no way to reverse it, so there's no point in worrying about MP3's that have already been made with CRC protection.
