Personally, I think that a 'switch left/right ui element' and a 'switch upper/lower ui element' context command in the splitter ui element would be very useful. What's your opinion on this?

+1 for a "switch panes".

Currently by using Cut & Paste only one pane can be preserved when you want to switch the contents of a splitter.

You can always use the scatchbox to store some components...

True, thanks for pointing this out and I just found out that it's also possible to have multiple scratchboxes open.

While this isn't as convenient as an option to switch the contents of a splitter element, it at least allows you to preserve the whole content of both panes when switching them with cut&paste.

This sounds quite useful to me as well.

Also, I'd really like to have a 'Split Left/Right' and 'Split Up/Down' option as well so I can add spliters in panes that already have content. It took me many minutes of staring at a single-pane layout to realize that I had to add spliters before adding any content.

@RotAtoR:

Replace the UI Element by a splitter.

This way, the existent element will end up in the left or top pane of the splitter.

Huh, didn't realize you could do that. Thanks!
