OITH.MP3

size 1.0 MB

This file is the first 1 megabyte of a 125mb MP3 (about 85 minutes) of an Old and In The Way concert.

The problem is that the pitch and tempo are both too high.

mp3VAL found several errors ('warnings'), and said it fixed those; but that did not affect the sound of the file.

This 1mb segment is from the original (no mp3val or other operations).

This segment was extracted using WinHEX using mark-block and copy-block to disk.

Sounds like a quite "normal" record of an old wax cylinder or sth like that.

You could try slowing it down by approximately 9% with audacity and see if that matches more what you expected (reencoding necessary!)
Why 9%? Well that's the difference between 44,1 and 48kHz (*) and if sth went wrong with a conversion that could be the reason...

Where did you get it from? Perhaps we can help more if we know that...

edit:
(*) 44,1kHz is -8,125% of 48kHz; 48kHz is +8,844% of 44,1 kHz
