Hi

Currently I am using a Sigmatel 36xx chip playing low bitrate vorbis audio (it lives in an audio only toy I have developed)

There's a LOAD of video functionality on the chip that I do not require and thus I have started looking about for (cheaper) alternatives on to which to port my firmware.

Given that this place seems to be a good location for information on all things ogg does anyone have any idea where I can start to look?

Any ideas gratefully received.

Best regards,
sd

http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/VorbisHardware might be a good place to start. Looks like about half a dozen different vorbis playing chips on that list.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think we'll pass on bringing a screen in to it (although it would certainly help debugging things in the field.)

And thanks for the link to the page in xiph.org. I must have missed that when i had a quick browse last week.

Funnily enough I had just stumbled across the VS1000 chip and started rubbing my hands with glee - i like the look of it.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards.
