Is the rules the same as for Audio CD, or as for Data CD? What speed? What brands of CD-Rs?

Same rules as for Audio CDs. This doesn't have anything to do with whether you're burning MPC, or Vorbis, or MP3, or MIDI, or MOD, or what have you.

Undecoded MPC files for computer use:
-> CD-R in data mode with typically 650...700 MByte

Decoded MPC files for use with conventional home stereo:
-> CD-R in Audio mode (CDDA)

Currently MPC tracks are handled like normal files when being burned on CD. With matroska as container you will be able to handle them as mode 2 form 2 files, giving you 800 MB instaed of 700 MB on a normal 80 mins CD, without overburning .... maybe not a huge advantage for audio rippers ( more for the video fraction ), but still nice to have.

Your "matroska" should be spelled as "matryoshka"! tongue.gif "Matroska" is the hat of a sailor! biggrin.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif

hat of a sailor ? thats new !

We had

- wife of a sailor
- shirt of a sailor

lol !

Simply think of it as an artificial name with no real meaning, although we admit the 'matryoshka' toys were the inspiration here ( again Franks idea BTW ). But, can you imagine any english speaking people spelling 'matryoshka' ??? lol ..

BTW, on http://matroska.org we have the ( hopefully correct ) Russian spelling also wink.gif ...

I guess I'm responsible for this mess. B)
Crosslink occured: matroska (hat), matryoshka (doll), telnyashka (shirt)... Only now realised that, lol...

BTW, if you're planning to burn audio cd's off of mpc's, you can do it directly (w/o temp wavs) with EAC, here's some info... and generate cue sheet based on tags, using mpc2cue from here.

By the way, is it safe to write MPC in Mode 2? (You see, I don't know much about CD recording...) For in that mode there is no information for error correction... Or is it (the information for error correction) needed only for Audio CDs played on home CD players?
