Hi,

So I'm new to Foobar.

When I started using ripping music, all my music was in one folder. My music, no subfolders.

Since getting Foobar and really liking the album are display, I split all my music in to album folders, to save the cover art into. I figured out that the Album cover art should be saved as folder.jpg I went through and erased all the messed up artwork (from media player), re-scanned all of my art and saved as Folder.jpg inside each album's folder.

Everything was great, until I opened a music file by default in Windows Media Player(WMP). I exited out, and the next time I started Foobar, more than HALF of all my folder.jpgs were replaced with blank black squares, and 3 other artwork jpgs were created, also blank black squares. mad.gif

I went through all the settings about media and online content in WMP is turned off. What am I doing wrong?

Can you verify that the files are indeed black squares in something like the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer?
If they are, this isn't a foobar problem.

BTW, questions about 3rd party components (i.e. PanelsUI) go in the 3rd party component forum. Hold on you'll be moved shortly.

Sorry about the forum, I was originally going to put it in the support, but didn't think it went there.

I never really though I had a problem with Foobar. I think it must be in Windows media player, or my files.
The artwork I had created was infact replaced with black squares 200x200 pixels and 2 smaller squares. I have since replaced all the artwork again, and this time embedded it into all my mp3 files.

I then opened media player, and this time I only lost three album arts. I really cannot figure out WTF is going on.

Windows Media Player is completely to blame. This happened to me a while ago and I lost all my carefully collected giant art. After that I keep my music collection away from WMP. I suggest you do the same.

WMP does not change your folder.jpg files as it also uses the same file to create AlbumArt mini image for the mp3s. I have a dual boot machine which on Vista I use WMP11 and on XP I used Foobar, and both plays the same MP3 files, and shows the same folder.jpg. Go to folder option and choose to show PROTECTED operating files, and search for the albumart that contains that black square. Delete it (and all intances) and you should be fine.
