Full Version: program to batch tag from filename

Years ago, when I originally converted my CD collection to mp3, I had 2 networked computers available to me, so I thought I was being clever by using one computer to just do the extractions to wav files and then the other faster computer to do the lame conversions to mp3. It never dawned on me that the tag information would be lost in the process. Now I have over a thousand mp3's with no tag information, and I've kinda just lived with it. My filenames are in the format of 'Artist' - 'Song title'.mp3 Does anyone know of a program or clever way of getting the artist and song titles extracted from the filename and put into the mp3 tags?

Thanks

Bob

Mp3tag, Tag&Rename, foobar2000, TagScanner, The Godfather ...etc.

You'd actually have a harder time finding tag apps which don't support this function.

Thanks, I downloaded MP3Tag and it worked great. I knew there had to be programs to do that.
