hi friends,
i am new to the forum. have visited several times and am now finally joining. have spent the last year just being pissed about mp3 etc and am now doing something about it! i don't know the culture around here, so i apologize if i'm not supposed to introduce myself or ask any newbie questions smile.gif

so i just downloaded EAC and ripped a disc. yeah! now, i want to burn it. what's the best program, fuerio? also, i am gonna take the EAC wave file and compress it with Apple Lossless to play on my ipod. Does this sound like a good thing?

thanks so much for your responses. look forward to learning a lot here.

There are probably at least hundred programs that do a bang-up job writing music CDs. Burrn http://www.burrrn.net/
is one freeware applications used by many people.

i don't recommend using lossless on a portable. on the road, you're highly unlikely to hear the difference between a lame -V5 mp3 and the original. you won't fit a lot of songs. your battery life will suck.

my advice, keep lossless in your pc as backup and use nero aac on your ipod. check this

thanks for the responses. will check out this thread as well as burrrn. i guess, having lossless on the ipod is a psychological thing for me. need to check out lame.

cdrtfe (cdrtools frontend) is excellent for burning music CDs and it supports cue sheets.

If you are using Microsoft Windows XP / Vista and if you are looking for a free program, you may want to try CDBurnerXP 4.0 (full version is free with no trial expiration or junk adware).

I actually don't use this program very often, but the few times that I have tried CDBurnerXP 4, it seems to work well for creating audio and data CDs from MP3 and WAV audio files. For audio CD creation, I only use Plextor CD writer drives for my Windows desktop PCs.

This program is free so I suppose you can just uninstall if it doesn't work for your computer (be sure to set Windows System Restore function just in case).

Unfortunately, CDBurnerXP 4.0 does NOT support AAC audio files yet.

Here is the website: http://www.cdburnerxp.se

In my experience, I use several different audio CD burning applications depending on my different needs. I don't think there is the "exact perfect one" for everybody and every situation. You may want to keep several different audio CD burning programs installed depending on your needs (you have nothing to lose except disk space with the free ones like Burrrn, iTunes, and Windows Media Player) .

I don't know of any reason to disable it.

Is that an option somewhere in the new EAC?

I'm still using V0.95pb5 without CDRDAO and have never seen it.

(I've had no problems making perfect copies of audio-only discs including offsets/overwriting as well as subcode from CUE sheets and I think my inability to make perfect enhanced discs is due to a different program.)

@ francesco,

Hopefully you are not experiencing buffer underrun conditions in the first place.

Regardless, to enable or disable is a simple matter. You can either guarantee a coaster as the outcome (and hope it doesn't continue), or test the abilities of your hardware. :-)

i still use feurio to burn my origianl audio cd
and in the manula , and the faqs is very ill judged to use the buffer underrun , because if it goes in stop for a short time too , it will ruin your copy
