I have some files that are entire CD's tracks combined together. They are in Monkey format, how can I break them up into smaller files again?

foobar2000 will do it. Load the cue sheet into foobar2000 and use the converter feature. Will convert to individual tracks in a format of your choice.

Does anyone keep a running count as to how many times this very same question gets asked?

As a follow-up, where are all these Monkey's Audio images coming from?

If there's a good legal source for ape images, I'd like to know about it!

Thanks for the help.

I don't know of any.

Edit: That doesn't imply that I got my file illegally. I was talking about free copyrighted material.

I'd like to know of some artist giving out free copies of their CDs in a lossless format and in images with CUE sheets. Despite the irony of it, if they were good, I would actually BUY their stuff just to support them. Who are they and where can I get them?

Hey, I'm anal, but not that anal. It does crop up 1-2 a week though I would say.

I would not be so rude as to include the OP in this category, but I can't help but feel that it is often (primarily?) just new P2P users downloading rips illegally, searching the 'net to find out how to deal with the files, and landing here. I wonder how much advice we give to the illegal file-sharing community in general...

This one was pretty blatant:

The Pirate Bay is featuring the Swedish glam rock band “Lamont” on their frontpage. Unlike the major record labels, Lamont recognizes the power of filesharing and they give away their album for free. Not without success, over 100,000 people downloaded their album in less than 24 hours, numbers that other artists can only dream of.

The Pirate Bay Sponsors Rock BandLamont offers their album “Golden Daze” in various formats including MP3, OGG and a lossless FLAC rip. The band also put up the video of their single that can be streamed online or downloaded in a higher quality. Interestingly, the clip is shot at the favorite “garden store” of Brokep, one of the Pirate Bay admins.

I did say "if they were good..." Thanks for the link though. Now where are these artists with their APE images and CUE sheets...
