hi!

i really don't know how to solve this problem:

as you could see from the image, i set all the parameters correctly -or, probably, correctly dry.gif -

user posted image

but, when i try to encode, i see that lame tells me something about input and outputs names; so i think i have to add two "-" after the string "--alt-preset standard" but at this time lame opens dos windows and do nothing;
i usually used the presets for official LAME without specify filenames or something for them....

i think it couldn't see the wav file to encode, but how can i tell it?

and, moreover, if i use standards setting -i mean, using lame without any "alt" preset- or razorlame with "alt" presets, it works perfectly!

so, please please help me!

thanks in advance

bye

minimum command line option would be:
--alt-preset standard %s %d

I have ripped hundreds of CDs using EAC and compression with LAME. The only setting difference I see is that you need to choose

"Paramater Passing Scheme: LAME MP3 Encoder" instead of "User Defined Encoder".

I suspect EAC doesn't know which paramaters to send LAME under the User Defined Encoder.

@ smok3
I have used just "--alt-preset standard" as my command line, %s and %d shouldn't be necessary.

%s %d is needed when you are using "User defined encoder", but not when using "LAME MP3 Encoder".

The reason for using user defined is that the "Bit rate" value will not be sent to the encoder - only what is written in "Additional..." will be.

now it works perfectly!
"%s %d" was the right answer biggrin.gif

well, thank you all!

Is that to say that when selecting "LAME MP3 Encoder" that the bit rate value is sent to the encoder? My settings were left at 96kbps in the understanding that it did not override the preset - is that not correct? The data rates seem reasonably high despite the data rate setting - APS gives about 200k.

If you only use "--alt-preset standard", you should be OK. I just checked, and apparently EAC's bitrate setting doesn't have any impact when using --aps. It's a different story when using the ABR presets though (the selected bitrate gets mapped to the minimum bitrate).

Just for the sake of avoiding "accidents", I'd always use the "User Defined Encoder".
