Greets DoX

I realize that, I actually re-copied and pasted the actual file name into the .cue sheet's file name.

Its just that the CHINESE charachters are only displaying as 2 ?s..because notepad can't read them.

How do I do that? I have Exact Audio Copy...but I'm not sure what you mean by "main window for CD title/CD artist"

Never mind then. I don't mean to offend, but I won't provide assistance with p2p downloads.
ViennaPhilharmonic
SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE HELP!!!!! I REALLY WANNA RIP THIS CD AND SEPERATE THE TRACKS!!
ViennaPhilharmonic
GREYNOL...I downloaded this legally...not all P2P downloads are illegal.

Please do not judge people based on lacklaster information.
greynol
I think the people at Sony would beg to differ with you on this particular download.

Legal or illegal (it may depend on the country) does not matter to me. I will not help with p2p downloads of any sort.

There are clear cases where people have solicited help on this forum for illegal downloads and I have chosen to err on the side of caution.

Greynol...if you wish to be all principled and nobled...don't you think that a person's right to "innocent until proven guilty" supercedes another's judgement to "err on the side of caution" to assume his guilt?

Anyhow, ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP ME...PLEASE!!!

No where have I judged you. Even if I had, this is not a court of law.

Hey, but it's only 1/20 illegal... the rest of the tracks says copy allowed!

Rename the file to "Image.ape" and replace the FILE line in the cuesheet with
FILE "Image.ape" WAVE

Also, the .cue has to be properly indented!
CODE
FILE "Image.ape" WAVE

    PERFORMER "…"

  TRACK 02 AUDIO

Indentation is correct, just never showed up when I copied and pasted the thread.

Upload the cuesheet file somewhere so I can take a look at it.

Hmm...

The OP has not explained what exactly is the problem he/she has encountered and what program was used when the problem showed up.

Then I see 24 replies, but obviously no one has actually tried the cue sheet text from the first post.

I did. The text, as it is in the first post, works fine as a cue sheet for me. I copy-paste-saved it to a new cue sheet. I added an enter after the last text line (it wasn't clear if the OP's cue sheet has it), but that isn't actually needed with the programs I tried -- the latest versions of EAC, MP3tag and foobar2000. Some other programs may not interpret a cue sheet correctly if the last line doesn't end with the carriage return character.

As the audio source file I used a 65-minute ape file from my archive, which I renamed exactly as "Various Artists.-.[Grandes Marches(SONY)].ape".

I didn't have any problems with using the cue sheet with the mentioned programs on English XP SP2.

Edit

Here's the cue sheet as I tried it (in case the text in the first post happens to change again):

Are you sure? For what application(s)?
shaohao
If there is any Chinese character (I mean any non ASCI character). Please re-save the cue file in UTF8 NO-BOM format.
Fandango
The upper 8bit characters in the first PERFORMAER and TITLE might have been converted while pasting them here... so the problem might not occur when copying the cue sheet out of this thread, but nevertheless on his computer...

It looks ok to me, except for the chinese characters in the first two lines. ViennaPhilharmonic, change them in your failing cue sheet to latin characters and see if that does the trick. If that was the problem then you should familiarize yourself with code-page handling in 8bit cue sheets and Unicode cue sheets. [edit: Search the forum/wiki!] tongue.gif

Like Alex B pointed out, you haven't actually mentioned what the error message was and with what program it occured... this is essential when you want help... ToS?!?

@Alex B: Many of the 24 replies are off-topic. wink.gif But yeah naturally one should request this kind of info about the error as soon as possible... but I guess people got carried away (including myself).

Try this: ConvertZ

It was burrrn. Ok, other applications do not have this problem, it's not a must.
I had a hard time to figure out why that program didn't want to load a cuesheet.
RamonSalazar
Convert the CUE sheet to UTF-8Y encoding.
I've experienced wrong recognition of track names in EAC with simple UTF-8 CUE sheets, but no problem using an UTF-8Y cue with EAC, but a warning. Just click two OKs if EAC warns there is a 'Unknown keyword in line 1'.

I dunno how burrrn works with code pages.
ViennaPhilharmonic
Hi all, thanks for your replies.

I use foobar2000, the problem is that when I drag the cuesheet into the application, it just blinks and nothing happens!

So I changed the weird charachters for "performer" and "title" to english charachters "VV.AA." and "Grandes Marches"...still the same problem occurs!

I'm not sure what you guys mean by changing the unicode? I don't see any options for doing so in notepad.

The CUE file with the changes I mentioned HAS to work. There is no other possibility unless the APE file is corrupt or you DID NOT "install" decoding support for Foobar:

http://www.foobar2000.org/components/index.html

Monkey's Audio decoding support.

RamonSalazar
You cant do it with notepad. Someone mentioned a software in a previous post. Check it. Peronally i use jEdit. Its open source.

However

doesnt seem to be a legal download. You have to pay for it in other sites.

You should clear those two chineese chars from BOTH filenames.

Just for experiment, try to rename the file to Ape.ape. Make a new notepad document copy paste the content of your cue but only from the first TRACK syntax. Make a FILE syntax to the first line referring to Ape.ape, and save as anything. Notepad saves .txt by default. Rename the file to Cue.cue.
Hope this helped. And buy the album if you like it.
eevan
QUOTE

Just try for yourself. It is indeed strange. The version is 1.14 beta2.
It just fills the album line with the title of the last track on the disc and the performer line. The tracklist is empty. Just try to load a plain ASCII cuesheet with removed indentation.
