I only have time in the winter (Canada) to work on my audio projects; I'm back into it now since last winter, but I may have forgotten some things about fb2k.
I have finished ripping my CD's. I rip w/EAC to .flac files, then using fb2k I run RG, then I convert to mp3 using the scaling method to pass the RG to the mp3...and I also run 2 DSP's. The Binaural (bs2b) and Advanced Limiter. So that's fine I did that all last winter (Summer came and went) and I finished up last week.
But....now I have some old .mp3 files I've had for years (not ripped as above, just existing on my drive). Some are of decent quality and I want to integrate them into my library. I see how to RG them the same as my files I rip (Scan per file Track Gain and then Apply track RG to mp3 data), but I can't see how to apply the 2 DSP's (?).
Is there a way....or is it just not a good idea in the first place to apply DSP to an .mp3 without the lossless to lossy conversion process taking place? It isn't horribly necessary, but it would be consistent with all my other mp3 files I've made.
Admittedly my limited head is not fully wrapped around the whole audio universe as I've just charged back into it and existing mp3's weren't on my radar when I did my initial reading and deciding last year.
Thanks in advance.
