Hi,

is there a way to remove or exclude particular files or folders from the media library (without deleting or moving them on my HDD)?

I have some albums that I have both wav and mp3 copies of on my drive and they are appearing twice in my media library and I want to just ignore 1 of the folders in the media library.

thanks,
Rich

With Columns UI and the Album List panel, the context menu for each node has a "Remove from library" item. I don't see that elsewhere in fb2k, though. If you always just want to exclude WAVs, for example, you could go to Preferences | Media Library and exclude them by extension.

Removing items from the library would only cause them to be re-added on the next rescan.

Apart from excluding certain file types as already mentioned by Matt, no.

I almost suggested changing the list of library folders (also on Preferences | Media Library) then remove dead entries, but I wasn't sure what happens on rescan. Are existing library entries for files that are no longer part of a listed folder removed? Even after changing the folders around, remove dead entries wouldn't really be appropriate, it seems, because the files would still be there. I also noticed, a long time ago when I narrowed down my library folders, my playcounts were lost. I'm not saying this was incorrect, just something to keep in mind for the OP (ratings could be lost too). Thanks for your insights Frank.
