Full Version: Copy tags from mp3 to flac files

I download shows from DIME & rip them for convenience to mp3 as that's what I use to listen to music more than anything else.

I keep a copy on flac to play through my squeezebox to my hifi.

I use mp3tag.

I have heard that the tagging is different on mp3 than flac, but what I have been doing is opening an album in mp3 in mp3tag, selecting all tracks & copying the tags. Then opening the flac files & pasting & saving the tags to them. Then I can rename all the flac files via an option in mp3tag to copy tag name - file name.

It seems to work, but I have noticed the flac files increasing it size by sometimes 200k.

There is album art 200 x 200 pixels.

I like this way as it is convenient & I am familiar with it, but is it ok this way.

If I open a flac in mp3tag & choose to delete the tag info & album art from it, the file size remains the same, it doesn't revert to the size it once was.

Many thanks for reading.

I should have mentioned that I only play the flac files through the squeeze box, so if there is a way of making a cue sheet that the SB can read that would be just as good for me.
Thanks
Florian

Mp3tag uses padding for FLAC and also reserves space for future changes.

Thanks Florian for the reply, I will continue to use Mp3tag.
