Hi,
I just got an 80GB iPod classic and am having some problems loading videos on it.
Almost all of my personal video's are in avi format and I was hoping to find an easy and free way to convert them to .mov files that were recognizable by iTunes and my iPod.
Could someone please recommend a good program for doing this? I know that Quicktime Pro is capable of doing it, but it costs $29 to upgrade to pro and I have read a huge amount of complaints about it. I would really rather not use it for this purpose.
Thanks in advance!

x264 + neroAAC + mp4box should do it with proper command lines, there are Gui's out there as well, like MEGUI.
(This question will popup a lot, is there a guide on wiki someplace?)
I recommend SUPER, it's probably one of the best freeware programs you can get for converting all if not majority of all video formats out there. - converts .avi to .mov.

Thanks for the replies guys. Much appreciated!
I gave Videora a shot and it worked great. It converted the AVI to a h.264 LC mov file and wrapped it in a mp4 container. It can even integrate with the iTunes library and load the file in iTunes once it's finished converting it.
I still need to test it out on my iPod and see what kind of quality I get when I plug it into my TV and speakers at home.
I may need to try a few encoder settings to see which fits me best.
Thanks again!
