I have been having a major problem with my SPDIF passthrough lately.
Whenever I play a DTS (or any 5.1 type file) on Foobar or Winamp, the first few milliseconds are cutoff.
This occurs every time I open the file; after the initial skip, the sound works fine.
I am guessing this might be the receiver switching over into 5.1 mode, and there is a physical delay not related to the soundcard or computer hardware.
Before, when bitperfect was enabled on the soundcard, this skip occurred. Now it happens whether enabled or disabled! Now when gapless files are played, there is an OBVIOUS gap between.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have been searching everywhere, and have found nothing. Just earlier today, it was working fine!
Thanks!
Chris

Same problem here no matter which kind of file I play. Got a Harman Kardon AVR130 connected from X-fi Fatality. However, it's my experience that soundcards acts differently. I think my problem is that the connection is cut off when null-bits are sent (maybe after a certain amount of time).
The weirdest thing I experienced was with my Yamaha DS-XG card. Even if I used crossfading between songs, the Reciever would re-initialize at track-change! If someone could enlighten me a little with this it would be great.
Wouldn't it be possible to create a DSP or anything that kept sending bits or something to avoid disconnection if gaps between congs are too large?
Edit: Oh and for the record - In my example it's not a matter of miliseconds, but MORE than one second!
