Full Version: Is there an "info.txt" viewer plugin?

When I have an album on my hard drive, I generally also make some notes about the artist and any interesting stories/details I might want to remember later, and store this as "info.txt" in the same directory as the music. Is there any sort of foobar2000 component (preferably compatible with the new default interface) that can display these text files?

Probably a longer stretch, but if something like this exists is there any chance it could also read rich-text (*.rtf) or HTML formats?

I tried searching in the Wiki and foobar2000 pages, but if there is already a component with these features I haven't stumbled upon it yet.

There is no one - unless you don't "misuse" foo_lyric_show which is only available for ColumnsUi but usable if you call that componenet via foo_dockable_panels.

Me too would really love a simple text viewer for DefaultUi that would let me display album reviews, biographies, comments and such stuff.

Although that might technically work, it isn't really an option. If anyone did so, they couldn't have lyrics for the same album! blink.gif

I use Run services

Album Notes

$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,info.)txt

Using foo_run is so far the best solution - that's what i do too! However, an UiElement with multiple instances and each instance could be linked to a source would be amazing: different text sources wich are organized in tabs and associated with either now playing or selected track. As some textbased information (biographie, label info, etc.) can't be stored in albumfolder i am thinking of a pedant to foo_uie_albumart.

Yes, that works... but it still opens the text file in an external viewer. Ideally I was hoping for a way to display the text file as a UI Element.

Even displaying Notepad as a UI Element would be helpful! Is there any way to trick the console into displaying user-specified data, rather than foobar2000-related data?

No, there isn't.
