Full Version: [TOS #9] (foobar2000) hacking the icons?

I am really happy with the changes to the UI in 9.5, it eliminated half of the plugins that I used to use. However, I am a bit disappointed that I still can't customize my toolbar button icons, BUT since I know that icon customization is being looked at for the next version I'm not too worried.

Still, I wanted to see if I could hack the files myself and replace the icons manually. After some searching I found the toolbar button icons in foo_ui_std.dll and replaced the 16x16 ones with some simple icons that I liked. I opened Foobar and I saw my own icons there: success! Unfortunately, when I went into Preferences, the tree items Default User Interface > Colors and Fonts, Playlist View gave me an error: Could not complete Preferences page. The operation completed successfully.

I wanted different icons, and I suppose that Foobar is still usable like this for playing music, but I won't use it if it's "broken". SO, I just saved this as a test folder somewhere else, and reinstalled.

Has anyone else tried this?

Not all icons are 16x16. Have you seen the Group Icon command like this?

But be careful! You may violate the software's license.

When the individual icon is changed, it changes that icon for the group as well. As I mentioned above, the problem was not in changing the icon itself, that was successful.

The problem came when trying to access the Default User Interface area in Preferences. I got an error there, even though I had not touched any other part of the DLL file.

Btw... there is nothing in the License I am violating. I'm not planning on redistributing this, just modding for my personal use... if I could get it to work lol.

It looks like you corrupted the dialog resource.

Ooooh, these are really cute! Can you share the icons you used? And which XP theme are you using?

I have no problem of this situation. I just replace icons in the Icon Entry.
Here is what it looks like:

If foosion doesn't say anything, anyone who feels interest can download the foo_ui_std.dll here.

Moderation: Download link removed, it violated the foobar2000 license.
