Hello,
I tried to find a topic on this, as this is probably not a unique problem of mine, but couldn't, so I'll ask.
After ripping music from some CD-s (I suspect self-burnt, although I bought them in a shop), the mp3 files have a slight noise (sound like electric sparks) in the end of each file, where there should be silence. Can anybody suggest a program that will help me remove these noises? As there are quite a few of these files, it would be great if it could be done automatically, in a batch, not manually file by file. What software is best for this?
thanks a lot

Is the sound audible when you playback the CD? Some details about your CD > MP3 process please. It's possible that the problem can be avoided altogether if the noise isn't on the CD itself.
Yes, the noise is also audible on the CD. I'm not sure but I suspect it is some kind of burning fault.
For ripping/converting I use CD-Ex with LAME (version 1.3, engine 3.92 MMX), mp3 settings are VBR (192/320, q=0).
The CD-s I bought from street shops in Egypt, they look like they have been made in the basement of the shop.
A sample file here (noise in the very end):

Not a lot you can do via the ripping process to solve the issue then. You're probably right, I suspect it maybe a stand alone cd recorder used in hifi's that wrote the CDs.
You might want to check out mp3DirectCut to edit your mp3s:

Another likely cause is that the decoder that was used to burn the CDs was not aware of any tags appended to the data and tried to decode them, resulting in rubbish. Used to happen sometimes back in the days of, like, BLADEENC.
Ok, thanks. For now I'll start deleting the noise with mp3directcut file by file. If someone has a better solution, please let me know.
thanks
