Hello,

I'm newbie here and I'm newbie to foobar2000. I've got problem with default feature - playlist grouping by Artist/Date/Album. If the files are (auto)tagged with another masstaging program, like MediaMonkey 3, then grouping works as shown in the image below. Do I have to re-tag every file with foobar to have correct grouping / facet display / etc.? Or is there simpler method?
Thanks in advance.

Make a custom grouping with this Pattern
CODE
%ALBUM ARTIST%[ - '['$left(%DATE%,4)']'][ %ALBUM%]

Foobar just shows what is written by Media Monkey. The funniest thing is that Media Monkey allows to set multiple values for certain fields wich are, however, not written as multiple tags in the file - on the other side the value for date is written as a real multiple tag and i have no idea what the purpose is.

That would not work for more elaborate dates (such as concert recordings), which tend to be longer (such as 2008-05-08).
I checked all three threads referring to this issue, but still cannot find any way for Foobar to automatically realize duplicate or conflicting dates. The only ways are display changes (like the one mentioned) or active scripting to eliminate the multiple values.
I'd really like to see the issue referred to in the next release, personally.

Well, then I hope the Media Monkey team is reading the foobar200 forums. wink.gif

Why not use $meta(date,1) ?
