Full Version: Media Library restrict filter not working correctly?

My music collection contains around 20,000 files, most of them mp3's but also a fairly large collection of modules (mod, s3m, xm, it) which I play using the foo_dumb component. However, I don't want the modules in my music library as they would unnecessarily clutter it up as they contain no metadata anyway.

So I have added a restriction of "*.MP3;*.MP4;*.OGG;*.WMA;*.MPC" to my media library settings. But this does not work and foobar will still scan through all the modules which takes a VERY long time (up to half a second per file) and it's incredibly annoying. I have tried adding "*.MOD;*.S3M;*.IT;*.XM" to the exclude filter as well but that won't work either. The files will not be added to the media library though, but they will still be scanned! dry.gif

Is this really the intended behavior or is it a bug? Please fix this, it is very annoying.

Do you keep those modules in (ZIP) archives by any chance?
bitbot
No I don't, they're directly in folders.

If they were the scanning would be understandable... Could they be mistaken for archives by foobar?

I hate to doublepost but does anyone have a solution to this problem?
foosion
According to Peter that is expected behavior (some left-over from the 0.8.x days that wasn't changed for 0.9.x).

Oh, I see.

I hope it's on the to do lists now, surely this couldn't be so hard to change.
