I've found some problem w/ my Chinese mp3 collection. All of them are tagged and they displays fine in foobar2k or WMP.

However, some of them do not show up correctly in other softwares.

1. A script that simply prints the ID3 v2 frames

2. Blackberry (with Chinese OS).

My guess is an encoding problem: maybe GB2312 vs. Unicode. I've noticed that those display correctly are created in foobar using the script to parse the artist and title from the filename -- which are in unicode in windows. I tried to redo these on one file that does not display correctly and now it works.

The question is then:

1. How can I tell which files are wrong (w/o putting them into a mess script or BB)?

2. How can I correct files in mass?

Thanks!

I. configure foobar to write Unicode characters in tags
II. put all the mp3s in foobar
III. "Rebuild MP3 Stream"

(Hopefully all your devices support Unicode in tags.)
