Full Version: Help with fofr... (and Foobar2k in general)

I recently switched to Foobar2000 after a format, and, as great as the player itself is, the steep learning curve is killing me. I've been fiddling around with the fofr skin, but I've hit a brick wall with what I can do with it... My main question is, how would I configure it to display my music like this?

Ideally, the songs would be under an Artist header, that would expand to individual albums, which would expand to individual songs.

Right now, I'm stuck displaying every single song individually, and the sheer disorganization is making my lose my mind. This is how mine looks, in comparison to that:

Ugly.

Also, I've scoured the options menus, but I couldn't find any way to display the playlist on TOP of the album art, like so:

Any insight on how to do that would be appreciated.

Also, that isn't the end to my media player woes... (switched from Winamp) I heavily rely on the Firefox plug-in Foxytunes for media control and support, and the plug-in does not update with song and artist info at all... Yet I can control the media player through the browser controls. Is this just something I'm going to have to live with?

Bear in mind, I have absolutely no experience with a program like this. Every time I open an options menu, I'm swamped with things like "$if($fileexists(C:/artistimages/thumbnails/$replace($replace(%artist%, ,+),&,and).jpg)", which is absolutely hieroglyphic to me. The most I could do was configure my G15 keys to control media playback.

I beg of anybody who had the patience to read all of that: Please help me!

Someone not knowing TAGZ-Syntax or the panels UI syntax, which is all pretty complicated (at least results in complex code) -> a bad combination. Even if you get it running: At every change you'd like to have you'll be lost.

If you see a layout you like, best way is to ask the people who created it. In general people are helpful, they can pass you all info on what you need (code, plugins, images...).

Don't know this plugin. What is the interface between it and a media player, how does it interact? Generally, fb2k's interface to the outside worls is via keyboard shortcuts or command lines ("foobar2000.exe /command:"blah").
Song and artist info? Maybe you need something like a "now playing" writer? There's some components for fb2k (amip, and a good, but simple one), which can write now plaing info to text files.

You should use foo_winamp_spam, and configure Foxytunes to think you use winamp instead of foobar, and all the updates will work
