I have loaded all the files I want to play in foobar.
I can play a file, I can go to another one, but the playlist doesn't show the current song playing. It stays on top of the playlist, showing the first songs. I can scroll down, to where the song is which is playing, but I thought that this would go automatically...

Any idea what could have caused this inability to jump to the current playing song?

Open the Playback menu (i.e. not the preferences page), enable Cursor Follows Playback.

Menu bar > Playback > Cursor follows Playback
