Are ID3 v2 OK with MP3? They don't work only with MPC?
Can I create an ID3 v2 tag with MPC and then to write from it APE tag and delete the ID3 v2? (It is more handy for me to operate with ID3 v2.)

Are you sure you didn't confuse things here? ID3v2 tags do not work with MPC, however they're widely used for MP3.

(I can't understand why you'd want to write ID3v2 to the MPCs, and then generate an APE tag from them - you miss half of APEv2's flexibility then...)

No, ID3v2 works with MPC.
I know, that they are widely used with MP3, but if they are bad with MPC aren't they bad with MP3 also? Or as for MP3 everything is OK?

And secondly: Tag&Rename don't work with APE yet. I don't know of advantages of APE2... Maybe they are really much more better then ID3v2, but could you tell me, what is about their flexibility? Why are they so good?
I don't know the programs, which work with APE2 and which are half that handy as Tag&Rename is. And I don't know the programs which can write the APE2 tags out of the freedb...

And still, I don't understand why APE2 is better then ID3v2 for MP3.... ID3v2 has more fields... ph34r.gif

Uh... APEv2 has an unlimited number of fields, which can contain anything: UTF-8 strings or binary data. See the definition at http://www.personal.uni-jena.de/~pfk/MPP/s...sv8/apetag.html.

Of course, binary data should never be put into a tag. It's always better to link it externally.

P.S.: Ever tried to ReplayGain an MPC with ID3v2 tags present?
