Hello!
I'm Korean that very interested in EAC.
I can hardly find about EAC in my country.
I found HydrogenAudio in google, and I found above website 'Essential Ripping Guide' in forum of HydrogenAudio.

There were so many tips about EAC, and I decided to translate to Korean all of your articles.
Translating is so hard and long work(It took about a week and now working) because I'm fool in English(with a dictionary), but very interested in EAC!!!

Question #1
[Essential Ripping Guide - Configuring - EAC Options]
There is a profile: ESSENTIAL.cfg
It contains completed setting.
But ESSENTIAL.cfg can't be loaded in the newest EAC because diffrent version!
How can I do? Where can I get correct file or guide?

and I have 1 more question.

Question #2
[Essential Ripping Guide - Ripping with EAC]
There is Sync Error. I couldn't understand.
Please see under sentence.

"it occurs on the last track and then it is often an indication that your drive does not support overreading."
I thought like this ---> 'overreading is a solution for sync error... therefore overreading is good ability! but so many drive cannot support it.'
But I confused since I clicked be attached picture on overreading.

http://users.fulladsl.be/spb2267/eac/sub/DisableOverread.png
"For many drives, 'overread' must be disabled. [otherwise, a sync error might occur in the last track]"
I thought like this ---> 'So many drive must be cannot support overread, [otherwise, a sync error might be occured]'
I understood front, but What is there additional sentence 'otherwise, a sync error might be occured'?
I looked up 'otherwise' in the dictionary and I found that word means 'If not'(relatived to front sentence).

Here is full sentence that translate by me.
So many drive must be cannot support overread, [If drive support overread, a sync error might be occured.]
This mean overreading is bad ability?

oh... It is contradiction. What's wrong? Where is my mistake?
Please let me know solution about overread option in detail.
HydrogenAudio is the last hope for me......

Hi Slayers85,

I am glad to see you liked the guide, and I consider it an honour you find it worth translating.
Apologies for the delayed reply and the indeed meanwhile outdated guide. sad.gif Life keeps me very busy nowadays, and I find myself unable to keep it up to date (commandlines, CFG profile, new developments such as dbPowerAmp). I will add a notice to the guide until I have found the time for an update.

Question 1: you are right: the CFG profile is not compatible with the newest EAC version. Best solution: search the web for a CFG that works (other guides, e.g. ChrisMyden, are or used to be offering CFG profiles)

Question 2: Overreading is considered a useful feature since it means the drive's reading head can move further so that it can read extra samples. Overreading is not a 'solution for sync errors' - rather the other way around. Sync errors are often a symptom that the EAC overreading checkbox was wrongly checked. Look at it this way: if your drive is not capable of overreading, and you check the overreading feature in EAC nevertheless, then strange things such as those sync errors might happen. If you push someone from a roof and the person cannot fly, he will break his legs. Same thing here smile.gif

I hope I am being clear - if not, just shout wink.gif

Regards to all,
liekloo
