Edit: Where did you download the ASIO component from? Have you noticed any problems using ASIO with other programs? Have you tried reinstalling the E-MU drivers?

I downloaded the latest version from Foobar when I was trying the Beta

Other ASIO apps are fine, right now I've switched back to the older version of Foobar 0.9.4.5 with the older verion of the ASIO componet (from Foobar2000's site). I've also ran Winamp fine with ASIO, but much prefer Foobar.

Also in reagards to the Caleb's question, why run ASIO? You get much cleaner audio, as it directly passes the information to the soundcard, instead of having to go through a bunch of Windows junk.

Actually, not to go OT, but if THAT is the reason you use ASIO, then you are wasting your time/effort. You can not hear any difference between DS and ASIO unless there is a problem with your card/system/drivers etc.

There are reasons to use ASIO, but that is not one of them (although people will try to tell you that).

Unless you have another reason to use ASIO, you are just making a simple process more complicated.

Do you feel a warning was necessary? As my post count shows I am new here, guess I need to read the TOS clearer, but I don't feel I was trying to make an outragous claim, or ABX test. Someone asked why use ASIO over DS, I gave the reason as to why I use it, I surely wasn't trying to ruffle anyones feathers blink.gif

Absolutely NOT (I'm not here to WARN anyone about ANYTHING).

Just don't want anyone chasing there tails for no reason.

Just trying to help ;-)

Oops I guess it was someone else, I was talking about the warning under my name, saying I violated TOS..

Owell sorry to whoever I offended with what I stated in my post

You may was to try the kernel streaming plugin form the same page I linked earlier ans see if it is comparable.

WELL, well....another people talking about the 'placebo' effect...

With ASIO or KernelStreaming, which is the same, YES are difference with DS. It's a FACT, theoretical and practical.

Maybe you're using your OnBoard soundcard with the typically supermarket cheapest plastic speakers who can't show you the REAL sound...., or, maybe, you have to clean your ears a little...

ASIO or KS, all the life.
My ears talking.

Funny guy ;-)

I run a M-Audio 24/96 thru a DAC into a very "nice" preamp/amp combo.

I also use ASIO (as I mentioned) but not for the Placebo effect; it is more stable (on my system) to run the ASIO to the S/PDIF.

I have run the DS drivers and did quiet a bit abx'ing to try to find a reason to dismiss DS. With the right "motivation" you can hear whatever you want to hear.

do you see??? ...jajaja...i was right...!!!!! another people speaking of Placebo...biggrin.gif

Sorry, i don't have any type of 'right "motivation"', i'm a scientific.

perhaps you follows the number two option...: you have to clean your ears a little...

I don't say that KS vs DS differenece is huge..., but it's exist.
On DS the music sounds a little more compressed with less definition and with a very little of distortion.

Maybe you want to test it with headphones, not loudspeakers...., and you may want prevent to use 'nice' preamps/amps or such that colouring the sound and make it unpure. Just plug your headphones in the soundcard output (or DAC).
