What linux tools are capable of encoding AAC files?

Do the encoders perform as well as the top AAC encoders out at the moment?

Egor
Nero AAC encoder, obviously.

Nero AAC is by far the best option, and since it's CLI based many many programs can use it such as RubyRipper, K3B, etc.

The only other option is FAAC which I avoid at all costs, and while I can't back up this statement at the moment, the quality of FAAC from my experience is worse then the latest LAME
