Full Version: LAME 3.90.2 for OS X?

Up until now I have encoded my MP3s on a PC using EAC and LAME 3.90.2 with the --alt-presets. I've been really pleased with the results, but now I need to be able to encode on an iBook running OS X. There's no problem having iTunes rip the tracks and getting an extrernal program to compress them - I just need to find or compile LAME for OS X.

Can someone point me to where I can find the source that is used to build the recommended LAME builds of 3.90.2? If I need to get it from CVS, can someone give me brief instructions on how to do so? I assume there are plenty of Linux users that are building 3.90.2 from the source.

Thanks

There is a link on here somewhere but I can't find it ATM!! rolleyes.gif

However, you download 3.91 source from the LAME project at SourceForge from this link. The code is identical, it was Dibrom's compile switches, particularly in Windows, that were different.

When I try to compile this particular version of Lame I can't get past the configuration stage. I get ./configure: permission denied. I tried using sudo but that didn't help.

Any thoughts?

try this link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...hp?group_id=290
there isn't a specific 3.90.2 source but you can try one of the listed.
unstuff and cd to the directory that contains the source and type
./configure. It seems that the configure shell in the 3.90.2 source even
doesn't work when you run it in su.
Cheers

I know I've seen binaries somewhere, found them after a google search. The link is in my bookmarks folder on a computer that is now in for repair, sorry I can't help.

Just yesterday I built lame 3.90.2 from source using Debian GNU/Linux's gcc 3.2.

I used lame-3.90.2.tar.bz2, I had to do "chmod a+x ./configure" before building because the configure script didn't have executable permissions set.

Hope this helps. : )
