any way to get TRUE VBR with iTunes? or do i have to use Nero?
kornchild2002
You can get true VBR if you use QuickTime Pro but there isn't a way to do it in iTunes. You should conduct some listening tests first though. I know that the little voice inside your head says that it is VBR_constrained but your ears might not be able to hear the difference. Also, what are the devices that you want to playback this music on other than an iPod? Do you plan on playing the music through a gaming console or another portable device or something else?

no i just heard that true VBR allows for more efficient encoding (better quality and less space)

Is there anyway to do a batch encode using Quicktime Pro?

if you have a Mac you can rip to flac, or similar then batch encode with XLD. Also Max might support the new core audio VBR mode now too. On Windows I think your stuck.

Just as I thought sad.gif

Could you batch encode using a dual core Macbook, or would it most likely overheat and die?

I've encoded DVDs on my MacBook with no problems, the bottom of the case will get very hot to the touch though, but by no means would it up and die or overheat, unless you have a defective product in the first place.
