Full Version: Next generation audio codecs

I use vorbis to encoding popular music at ~112kbps and it seems to me good enough.
I find the codec that good as MP3 at 128 kbps, at 64kbps.
It seems to me the spectacular evolution of audio compression is finished, the spectral band regeneration techniques doesn't solved anything. Do you know about any new (better) codecs?

Care to explain why you think this?

what's your point?? blink.gif

if you're looking for a 64kbps's codec that sounds as good as 128kbps MP3, use AAC+.
it sounds very good at low bitrate, compared to a 128kbps MP3. rolleyes.gif
