Full Version: Write offsets with cdrdao in Linux

It doesn't look like cdrdao can handle write offsets natively. So, are there any command line tools in Linux that can adjust a set of WAV files to a drives write offset value before passing to cdrdao? If not, I can look into creating something.

I don't think there is one. I've been working on a patch to add read offset support to cdrdao, but I haven't done anything with write offsets.

Is there any reason why a correctly adjusted TOC file could not enable this feature? This would save me from having to patch cdrdao directly.

You probably could, but you'd have to remember to pad the begininng or end with null bytes (depending on whether your offset is <0 or >0).

I thought cdrecord allowed for writing offsets.

It's been a while since I've used it. Do I remember this wrongly?

I don't see any support for it in the manpage. It supports overburning, but this is only useful for burning images larger than the disc's official size. There are various padding options too, but they don't appear to be related to offset correction. I could be overlooking something though.

If anyone else is interested in this topic, I recently posted the code to enable this feature. Basically, its a script to re-write the WAV files in a CUE sheet with any sample offset value. Good luck!
