Greetings.. this is a post on the lighter side..

Needing to locate a popular British song from the 80's who's lyrics go as follows:

"..East end Boys and West end Girls.. West End Girls.. West End Girls..!!"

Am trying to identify said material for encoding.. (for experimental purposes or course)

Cheers..!!

Thats the classic "West End Girls", by the 'Pet Shop Boys'. You can find it on 'Discography', their early singles collection

Sometimes you're better off dead
There's a gun in your hand
And it's pointing at your head
You think you're mad too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
In a restaurant in a western town
Call the police there's a madman around
Running down underground
to a dive bar in a western town

The album this is from was the first CD I ever heard.

Not of any interest to you, but there you go.

Hmmm.. rather extreme and suicidal.. isn't it. I thought it was about ordinary-class guys and hi-class women. Would the `quality of recording' on this CD justify it ['s purchase] for MPC encoding?? How well was it mastered? Anyone familiar with this music..?? Recently heard it on FM radio.. which prompted the HA General post.

If you're going by recording quality, no Pet Shop Boys CD ever released is worth buying. smile.gif The production is bad on all of them (well, at least the ones I own/have heard). They all sound really thin and cheap.

I like "Discography". It's one of the older albums that I still play tracks from once in a while. Then again, I grew up in the UK during the 80's boom. I'm not sure how much their music is about "being there".

I haven't noticed any problems with the recording; it's always sounded fine to me, but I'm not really qualified to say whether it was a "good" recording.

There are a few "West End Girls" re-mixes floating around as well e.g. here, but I'd say go for "Discography".
