I don't get it how can "0.5 generation" be better than no generation loss at all. I'm all for analogue listening/viewing as in public radio/TV/CRT monitor, but storage with constant quality reduction is unacceptable.

I still have a reel-to-reel but x2 with j7n. As much crap as we have in the air and EM bombardment we get, tape isn't exactly good archival material. Even if it is nice and warm *snuggles*
