I had a previous version of foobar installed on my system and had it set up so that singles and albums were displayed properly within the same playlist. I had to do a format before I had to backup my setting and I lost everything. I downloaded the new version and I'm loving it but I'm having problems getting my playlist like I had it before.

an example:
For the albums on the playlist it had a heading showing the artist name - album name - year - and genre . that was the heading. below that would be the songs.

for singles there would be no heading just the artist name song and etc

for various artist it would have Various Artist - Album Name - year - Genre: and below that would be the track number , artist name , song title and duration.

for the albums that are more than one cd I"d have them
as so - Artist name - Album - CD#-year-genre
then the tracks for cd 1 would be displayed
and cd2 tracks below these

with the new install singles have a heading with the artist name and ??? follows it

the way i tag is simple. singles only have the artist tag , title , and genre tags filled.
Albums have artist, title, track number, album, year, and genre tags
soundtracks and etc have album artist set to Various Artist

Can someone help me figure this out.

thanks in advance

Which user interface do you use? Which one did you use previously?

I used columsn UI previously but now I'm using the default layout of 0.9.5.1 and I love it

I'm afraid there's no way to do that in the Default UI playlist view. You either have groups for all elements (albums and singles) or none. You could create your own grouping scheme that detects singles and puts all consecutive singles in the playlist into a group called "Singles". It would look like this:
CODE
Artist 1 - Album A - 200X - Genre
   Track 1
   Track 2
   Track 3
Singles
   Single 1
   Single 2
Artist 2 - Album B - 199X - Genre
   Track 1
   Track 2
Singles
   Single 3

that would be good enough until i can find another way. How would I go about doing that?
