I've been told it's possible to update the tagging info on tracks from a database, but I can't find the option. My friend tells me it's accessed by right-clicking on a track and then under the "tagging" submenu, but there's nothing relevant there.

I've really looked everywhere.. is it something I have to download, like a plugin?

If you chose to have the freedb tagger component (offered in default foobar2000 installation), you should have a freedb menu item under the tagging menu. If you don't have it and want to get it, run the installer again. The option is under Optional Features > Tools > freedb Tagger

Right-click on an album's worth of tracks (pretty sure you need all the tracks in an album) > Tagging > Get Tags From freedb

If that component doesn't work for you, you may want to give the foo_discogs component a try.
