Hi everyone,
A few days ago my subwoofer suddenly didn't work anymore, or rather, it did work but I could only hear the bass when I put it's volume at near max levels. It worked fine before. I tried it on another pc and it's the same problem. The installation is a (cheap) logitech 2.1 set (don't remember the exact type, I can look it up if it's neccesary) and it's about 3-4 years old I think.
Question is, should I throw it away or is it perhaps a cable problem or something else that can be fixed?
Thanks in advance!

It's probably not a cable... I assume that there's not a separate subwoofer cable? On most 2.1 systems, the audio is fed into the subwoofer/amplifier box with a single stereo cable. Then, the left and right speakers are connected with separate cables to the sub/amp box.
And, it's probably not worth repairing unless you can do it yourself. (Most modern electronics are built on an assembly line with a few minutes of low-paid labor, and it will take a hour, or so, of high-paid labor to troubleshoot, order parts, and repair it.)
If you can get it apart, it might be worth opening it up and wiggling the wires around... Most problems are caused by bad cables or bad connectors, and you might find a loose connection inside. But, blown transistors/ICs are fairly common in amplifiers too.

Yep the cables are as you describe it. I'll have a look inside the woofer and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice DVDdoug!
