Open source is not an obligation if some developers can create plugins which improve Foobar2000.
Unfortunately, since 0.9.5 new UI, (if I'm not wrong) SDK for plugins creation has not been released for some reasons ("You are bad developers, I'm the best").
I can understand Peter P. doesn't want his application to be classed in buggy ones because of plugins, but despite what he thinks, Panels UI (yes, everybody knows that this is the one which bothers...:-) uses less memory than the new UI, and I have no problem nor crashes with it.
Because of this philosophy, we have to use an album art panel which is very limited, whereas I'm sure some developers would love to create a real image viewer panel.
No I won't quit Foobar2000 for others softwares, I still consider it as one of my favorite app', but for some months, we can see the bad effect of closed source software, since only 3 persons can develop UI plugins...
