Yes, the title is quite self-explanatory imho, but once again what I'd like:

The playlist search window (Edit > Search) normally starts empty and fills it with tracks that 'hit' your search query. It would be very nice - and not so hard to code, I guess - if it would start out with the complete playlist and reduce the playlist to the tracks that match the search query. When the search pattern is removed from the textbox, it should return to the complete playlist.

In that way, you've actual have a new 'playlist view' with integrated search feature, which is exactly the reason why I thought of this added feature. If you add this playlist search as a UI element, you have a "playlist view" with filter function, which is the only thing I miss in foobar at the moment biggrin.gif

I don't know how foobar is structured and how difficult it would be to code because I don't have insight in the program code, but it doesn't look very hard to me, because you almost only have to join some existing code elements...

It wouldn't be enough to start with full content of your active playlist and to embed playlist search as ui element - what is about playback of the items?

But why so complicated? Why don't you ask for filter toolbar wich limits your real playlists?

Edit: maybe your wish will be fulfilled when Frank Bicking adds the feature to bind content of Facets to active playlist.

Hmm, I don't know if I understand you correctly, but about the playback: the playback control (starting new songs and queuing) works practically the same in the playlist _search_ as it does in the playlist _view_. And I didn't ask for a 'complete new' filter toolbar, because the playlist search already works fine, except for the things I noted in my post. So why bother coding new stuff, while you could easily upgrade existing code smile.gif (Again: I couldn't say exactly how hard/easy it is to do, but it doesn't look hard to me)

Oh and sorry for not following the rules.

I guess I know what you mean, its iTunes-like search. But in fact foobar2000 playlist search is better. U type something, then highlight one of the results, and then foobar finds this track in current playlist. I miss only quick button to make playlist out of all results, for now i have to right click, select edit, and send to playlist.
