Full Version: Conflicts with 2 FB2K installs

I have two installs of FB2K on my machine. The idea is to create a "Lite" version that uses even less memory than standard FB2K when just listening to music. By simply removing the features that I do not use (normally), I have lowered FB2K to ~24MB, roughly half it's original value. Also by doing this, my FB2K-lite starts instantly while regular FB2K has taken up to 3 seconds to start up.

The problem: every time I use the regular FB2K for some other intended operation and go back to the lite version, it prompts me to keep the original settings of all the components I am no longer using. This gets to be a real pain (granted a pain I inflict upon myself) switching back and forth.

The versions are installed to different directories.

Why does it remember that there are other components for the other installation? Is there a way to prevent my FB2K lite version from knowing there are other components each time I use the full version of FB2K?

SOLUTION:
Real simple.
  1. Have your installations in two different directories.
  2. Go to File > Preferences > General > Location of Configuration Files > select "Application Install Folder - ..." and save.
Fixed! Thanks again guys.

foobar2000 scans all its subdirectories for components.
Place your other installation outside the other foobar2000 folder.
Also, disable profiles, so everything is stored in its own folder.

Make sure that you have the "Location of configuration files" setting set as "Application install folder" and not "User profile folder."

this is the solution.

However, your playlists and media library and playcounts and other things saved won't be shared in both installations.

This setup is similar to yours and works for me.

Configs in "Application install folder" and not "User profile folder" as per MuncherOfSpleens and shakey_snake.

Yes this has fixed it. I had the installations in different directories to begin with.

@Carpman:
I had something similar to that, but did not realize that FB2K stores information in the user common program files directory.

Not an issue with me.
