I think that QuickTime can do this.

IIRC the new iChat in Leopard uses AAC-LD, so i'm guessing, as Gabriel said, it's in Quicktime.

I was eventually able to get my hands on a current OSX box and it IS possible to en/decode AAC-LD using Quicktime Pro. (No pro? No luck.. at least as far as I could find).

Unfortunately Quicktime suffers from the typical Apple user interface, it's pretty opaque and featureless... It presents only a few options and provides no access to any detailed parameters. (For example, what is the reservoir size used ?? who knows!) ... but this was vastly better than the nothing which I had access to before.
