I am looking for some good noise cancellation for less than $100 USD. I tried the Koss QZ-99 headphones and was disappointed in the audio quality. I Googled "noise cancellation headphones" and found these Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation headphones for $90. They seem to have the highest noise reduction rating of any of the headphones I've seen at 29dB of reduction. The sound clip thing on their site demonstrated an impressive amouont of noise reduction if, in fact, the headphones can actually perform as well as the demo suggests.

I also like that they are passive noise reduction headphones. I tried the Maxell HP-NCII active noise reduction headphones and they made this annoying hissing/swooshing sound. They also felt really flimsy and cheap.

So does anybody have any thoughts about the Direct Sound EX-29 headphones and has anyone ever bought anything from QuietHeadphones.com?

UPDATE: I ordered the Direct Sound EX-29 Headphones from QuietHeadphones.com and I am wearing them now. I work in an office right next to an in-the-window air conditioner that is rather loud. I've got my headphones hooked up to my iPod and when I am listening to music at a low level it totally blocks out the air conditioner and I can just barely hear my phone ring. If I am not listening to any music through the headphones I can still hear background noises but they are significantly reduced - about like when I go into one of the offices here and close the door.

The sound quality is really good too. I adjust my equalizer to boost the treble a touch and the sound is better than any other headphones I've ever used. The bass is solid but not overwhelming. The headphones respond really well to EQ adjustments so you can significantly adjust the sound to match your listening preferences.

My one complaint is that the headphones were a little bit tight on my ears when I first got them so I contacted the support at QuietHeadphones and they told me to put the headphones around a stack of books or the arm of a couch overnight to break them in and that worked really well. I can wear these headphones for at least 3 hours with no ear or head fatigue. I usually don't stay seated any longer than that.

So in summary, I highly recommend these headphones. Great sound, great price, excellent sound isolation and the customer service at QuietHeadphones.com was really good too. I'm really excited about these EX-29 headphones.
