Problem solved! Thanks guys. It was in fact my ASPI interface. I uninstalled and reinstalled and that is the conclusion I've come up with. Everything is going smoothly now. Thanks again!

I'm a first time poster, but long-time reader of this forum and have found these forums extremely helpful in the past. The HA community is great! I would appreciate any help I could get.

Here's the situation. I have 2 computers: 1 laptop, 1 desktop. I have both of them configured to use EAC+REACT2.0ss for ripping/encoding. The desptop is working great! It's the laptop I'm having issues with. EAC loads my discs without issue and can access freedb and all that. The problem is that once I try to perform a rip or a detection of drive features such as 'Detect Read Features' and 'Autodetect read command now' on my laptop the CD is then virtually ejected from EAC. What I mean is EAC claims there is no CD even though it is still in the optical drive.

I have used this laptop with EAC to rip in the past but not with the REACT setup. I really doubt it's REACT because it's working no problem on my desktop. It's been I'd say around 3-4 months since I've ripped a CD on the laptop. Maybe something happened since then? I'm at a loss. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Did you made the usuals: another disc, another eac version, codec conflicts, aspi/spti, registry, etc. ? I don't think it's REACT.

maybe there is a firmware upgrade for your drive?

check on RPC1.org or your manufacturers website.

but do it as a last resort after trying what RamonSalazar has suggested.

What was it?

It was my SCSI interface. I changed it to the Native Win32 instead of the external ASPI interface. I don't really know what that option means!

Oh yeah, and I disabled my virtual drive. Don't really know which one did the trick.

I actually think it was your virtual drive. I used virtual drives for mounting my school's software for quite some time until I started using EAC again. EAC would not work with one of the Daemon Tools versions. I updated the version and EAC worked again. EAC, for some reason, would only recognize my virtual drives and not my actual drives.

I have since changes to Slysoft's Virtual CloneDrive without problems so far.
