I cannot give advice on specific drives, but most modern drives have good C2 support and therefor I would suggest taking a look at dBpoweramp Reference for ripping.
I'm aware of dBpoweramp's use of C2 pointers, but I actually still prefer EAC because I use REACT. It allows me to configure and automate my entire ripping process exactly the way I want. If it was just a choice between plain EAC and dBpoweramp, I'd probably choose dBpoweramp. But the flexibility allowed by REACT is tough to beat.
