Hi,

I've been looking around and haven't found an answer to this one, although I'm pretty sure it's out there somewhere. Anyways here it goes:

I've used EAC with Synthetic Soul's modded REACT2 to back up some audio CDs. I have FLAC images for archiving with the cuesheet embedded. My question is if there is any point in keeping the .cue file associated with the image?

Thanks!

flac doesn't store track titles in the embedded cuesheet AFAIK, so yes, there's a point to keep them

That is absolutely correct. However, REACT2 also stores the CUESheet itself in the metadata field called "CUESHEET". This can simply be exported into a text file using metaflac when required. Also, many applications like Foobar2000 and recently, Imgburn use the embedded cuesheet if the separate file does not exist.

Hence, there should be no need to retain the separate .CUE file. However, I keep the .CUE files in case something goes wrong and the tags get corrupted. Honestly, the question of retaining the files or not is completely upto you.

Cool. Good info to know. I burned a CD in fb2k using the embedded file and it worked perfectly. I popped it in my other PC and EAC recognized it no prob. On the other hand I think I'll play it safe and just keep the cue file JIC.

Thanks guys.
