There's been some mp3's file like this in my music library. Is it corrupted, I wouldn't know.

Until now I still couldn't find the faulty for such issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Note that during playback of the song there will be a slight 'chk' sound.

Blocks of 512 bytes are missing from your file in numerous places. Since one sector on a typical hard disk is 512 bytes long, it would indicate the possible source of corruption.

Since the missing data seems always be replaced with 0xF6, you could do full text search for a row of F6F6F6F6 across your library to identify corrupted files. Total Commander can be used for the task without first finding out what text character from ANSI or Unicode conforms to that number.

If you still have the harddisk where the corruption originated I recommend to stop using it immediately.

If there weren't so many Final Fantasy releases, I could helf you find a replacement.

In other words, are you saying that it was possible that my hard disc was corrupted? About 1 year ago I had recopied my entire music directory from the original hard disc where I store my music file to another computer. If this is the case, since there may be corrupted song files in my other computer, would it's hard disc be corrupted as well as the first one?

No, you can't break a hard disk just by writing some data on it. It's not like an infection of a living organism. smile.gif

After using Total Commander 7.03 to search through my entire music library, it yields result when searching for F6F6F6F6 via unicode and hex option.

Any ways to 'repair' the song file instead of me having to search for the exact song file to replace it again.

By the way, is the song file corruption due to my first hard disc being corrupted somehow?

To my shock, not only did my mp3's file being corrupted, even pictures are corrupted as well.

The following picture are searched via the search string f6f6f6f6 using Total Commander 7.03 (Unicode & Hex field being checked)

It's either hex, or Unicode. Perhaps results would be more reliable, if you searched for a longer string (like 16 bytes).

How to search for 16 bytes string? type f6 for 16 times?
j7n
Yes. I tried 512, but it was too much for TC to handle.

I see, I only type f6 for about 6 times for accurate result.

One question though. How come when I searched for 4 bytes (f6f6f6f6), the result yields file which is not corrupted, but instead, when I view it by F2, then search for f6f6f6f6, only small partial of line occur. Yet the mp3 is not corrupted during entire playback. Wonder if should I concerned about this?
