Full Version: Find errors in AC3

I have an AC-3 that has to be decoded and numerous audio flaws in it repaired (no original ac3 frames will be kept). This file came from a "hardware" DVD recorder and has become corrupted in at least one place. Foobar refuses to decode past the corrupted frame (decoders version 0.6 and 0.8) and won't attempt to resync. What can I use to identify the exact place of corruption so that it can be fixed?

I'm not offering a direct answer, but have you tried using graphedit with ac3 filter? Or, alternatively, BeSweet?

I thought about using Graphedit. But if AC3Filter (or the filter before it) skips errors, I will create an uknown amount of desynchronization.

True, it was just a suggestion. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!! smile.gif It may be a waste of time, but I'd try anything! wink.gif

have you tried delaycut?

I downloaded delaycut. It skipped found errors (bad) although I chose "Silence". However, it also provided me with the positions of the erroneous frames, so I could fix them manually.

Thank you for your answers.

The Foobar2000 decoder begs for improvement, so that errors are reported in the console (as is with MP3). Or perhaps there is a new version? I got foo_ac3 v0.8 for Foobar 9.

No improvement and the console is still silent.
